For us millennials, this game is the ultimate time machine. I mean, managing thousands of troops while your peasants complain about taxes is a vibe. The economic management is still as punishing as I remember. Man, those memories hit hard.
The military mechanics are brutal. Seriously, how did we win anything back then? I probably just spammed units and hoped for the best. 😂 I think playing Age Of Empires 1 was way more easier than this. I tried comparing this to modern RTS games, but the atmosphere is just built different. You cannot replicate that feeling of building a massive stone wall while your bread supply is literally at zero.
